Graduation Campout August 2013 at Canyon RV Park.
All of our hard-working Scouts have recently celebrated their advancement to the next rank at our Annual Graduation Campout and Flag Retirement Ceremony. During this campout the Scouts and their parents participated in a hike and nature lecture led by Scout Leader David Campos. During this hike each Scout and accompanying parents learned about various types of local fauna and flora, and their roles in the local environment. They also had the opportunity to learn basic compass skills through the instruction of Gail Campos, which was followed up with hours of fun in the pool earning their swimming belt-loops. The leaders of Pack 388 are very proud of these boys, and honored to have the opportunity to lead them on their Scouting journey. Congratulations Scouts- You deserve it!
Raingutter Regatta 2013
A summer just isn't a summer without a Raingutter Regatta. The Annual Pack 388 Raingutter Regatta was held on August 24th in the Saint Margaret Mary Sacred Heart Courtyard, where each Scout had an opportunity to build, design, and race their own Pinewood Sailing Vessel in multiple heats with a couple of nail-biting finishes. During the Regatta each Scout had learned the various parts of a traditional sailboat, and in addition received a short historical lecture on Naval History from Cub Master Gary Pascual and Wolf Den Leader Joy Burkhardt. The afternoon was capped off with a lunch of grilled hamburgers and hot-dogs compliments of Chef Pascual.
